Several follow on contracts have been awarded to Barum & Dewar to provide additional specialist packaging solutions for Bowman (BCIP5.6). These contracts follows General Dynamics UK being awarded a £135 million contract by the UK Ministry of Defence in 2016 to deliver enhanced communications for the British Army.

The BCIP5.6 programme allows for the Bowman tactical communications equipment currently used by the UK military to receive a series of enhancements and upgrades. These include the roll-out of approximately 12,000 new data terminals and an updated version of the Battle Management System.

Barum & Dewar were responsible for the design, development and manufacture of suitable deployable packaging for items such as laptops, printers, tablets and associated IT equipment and worked with General Dynamics UK to develop an innovative and effective packaging solution.

Specialist packaging includes the supply of SKB and Thermodyne cases fitted with custom designed internal foam manufactured at B&D’s in-house facility based in Southampton.

Barum & Dewar Managing Director, David Frame, commented: “We are delighted to be able to work with General Dynamics UK once again on these latest contracts and look forward to delivering additional ruggedised solutions for BCIP5.6”.

Barum & Dewar is a leading UK manufacturer of complete packaging solutions with over 20 years’ experience to the Defence, Subsea, Industrial, Instrumentation, Space and Aerospace sectors.
